Sig Sauer P230 Review: The Pros and Cons of the P230

Thinking about buying a new Sig Sauer P230? Then you've come to the right place! The P230 is one of the best compact and sleek handguns that excels at concealed carry and personal defense. In fact, that's why it was designed in the first place. Since the 1970s when it was first introduced, this handgun has remained a popular choice for gun enthusiasts and law enforcement officers and it's easy to see why. Let's take a look at the good and the bad!

Pros:

  1. Size and Weight: Made to be small and concealable, this thing is a breeze to carry. Weighing in at just over one pound, you can have this on and not even realize it. What more could you ask for in a carry gun?

  2. Reliability: A pistol is no good if it ain't reliable. Luckily the P230 is known for its incredible reliability, so no worrying about jams or misfires. A dependable firearm that you can always rely on, what's not to love?

  3. Ergonomics: Smaller handguns don't tend to have the most comfortable ergonomics, but this one actually does. The P230's grip will fit comfortably in the hand and provides a great grip to put rounds down range.

  4. Quality Construction: If there's one thing that Sig Sauer firearms are known for, it's their quality. You know the P230 is going to have this same quality construction that the company is known for, and will last you for decades to come.

Cons:

  1. Limited Capacity: Small guns are great, but that also means you don't have as much room for ammo. The P230 has a magazine capacity of only seven rounds, which might not be ideal in an emergency.

  2. Heavy Trigger: I love a good, crisp trigger on a handgun, but the P230 is everything but that. If you've never shot one before, you may find it to be very heavy and long.

  3. Small Sights: Smaller gun, smaller sights. While that makes perfect sense, the sights on this thing are tiny! And because they are so small, they can definitely be hard to see and use, especially in low light conditions.

  4. Price Tag: Since this is a Sig we're talking about here, it should come as no surprise that it comes with a higher price tag. While I do believe it is worth every penny, you can find other high-quality firearms on the market for less than half the price.

At the end of the day, there's no denying that the Sig Sauer P230 is one of the best carry pieces out there. You'll get a reliable, accurate, and well-built firearm that is extremely high-quality (lasting for decades). And while sure, it may have some downsides in terms of the capacity and stock sights, it more than makes up for it with everything else. So if you've been thinking of picking up a P230 of your own, there's no better time than the present!

Oh and if you do get yourself a new P230, you can order a new holster for it right here!
