Holosun 507: Specs and Review
If you’re looking for pistol upgrades, a red dot should be on the short list. And if you’re in search of the best pistol red dot sight, Holosun needs to be in the running. When it comes to Holosun pistol optics, your choices are going to come from the 507 line. That includes two particularly robust models: the Holosun 507c and 507k. We’ll take a look at them in this post.
Holosun: the Background
Holosun has become a household name when it comes to quality optics at a reasonable price. The gun community didn’t always perceive them that way. But recent years have seen the company churning out better and better glass. And now that Ukrainian troops have been seen fielding Holosun optics, they’re officially considered “combat-tested.”
The Holosun 507c
The 507c is the workhorse pistol red dot sight of the Holosun arsenal. As a result, the company has packed quite a few features into a small, compact package. That’s made this little optic extremely popular among handgun owners.
The 507c features a multi-reticle system along with a “Shake Awake” feature that automatically turns the optic on when you move it, saving battery life. Speaking of battery life, if your battery dies, the 507c has a built-in solar panel to keep your sight working. Holosun also added a “Lock Mode” to the 507c, which prevents an operator from accidently adjusting the optic’s zero. Just like any other red dot, the 507c has no parallax and unlimited eye relief.
Specs:
- Dot: red or green LED
- Reticle: 2 MOA dot and 32 MOA circle
- Magnification: 1x
- Window Size: 0.63x0.91 in

The Holosun 507k
The Holosun 507k is similar to the 507c in that they’re both a pistol red dot sight. But Holosun decided to take that a step further with the 507k, designed specifically for concealed carry applications.
To that end, Holosun definitely made some changes to this optic. For example, it’s smaller overall. On one hand, that does mean that it has a smaller sight window. However, that also means it has a smaller footprint, making it ideal for subcompact pistols – the kind that are becoming increasingly popular for concealed carry.
Like the 507c, the 507k features several of Holosun’s standard systems like Shake Awake and multiple reticles. In addition, it boasts the same Lock Mode that you can find on the 507c. And like all red dots, the 507k also features zero parallax and unlimited eye relief.
Specs:
- Dot: red or green LED
- Reticle: 2 MOA dot and 32 MOA circle
- Magnification: 1x
- Window Size: 0.58x0.77 in
- Power Source: battery only
- Battery Life: 50,000 hours
